Gloucester

• If I were part of a team who moved to a distant country  to share the gospel with people who naturally reject Jesus, how would we shape our lives?

• What would we take with us and what would we discard?

• What would be our stance? Would we come with ready-made answers or dialogue and listen?

Scott saw he had to let go of much of what he knew about church and how to communicate the gospel. He then was able to ask different questions of his local church:

• What is the gospel when people expect Jesus to meet their private spiritual needs but nothing else?

• How can we reach people in our neighborhoods who just aren’t going to come to church?

• How do I find out what God is already up to in the neighborhood?

• What kind of church might the Spirit want to shape in this neighborhood?  He found himself asking neighborhood, rather than church, questions and focusing on how the gospel relates to a local situation, not how the church could be more attractional.
