Day 6 Returning a different way.

On the Camino

I went to Santiago de Compostela,

Seeking myself and God.

Changed, I return home

Rich in experiences

Outer and inner

I return to my old life

To places where

I re-encounter the familiar,

Where I work and rest,

Where I wanted to keep on living.

The perplexities, the problems and the people

Continue to be the same.

Only I am not altogether the same,

As the person who one day set off.

I see it all in a new way,

Free of coercion.,

Delving deep in the familiar

I am on the road of life.

Now I don’t have to

Love, work, suffer – I am able to…… !

Living has become a gift.

Because I live from inside, from God.

Oh God!

To live anew con only be done facing ahead.

Along the  pilgrim road of my life.

Day 5. Choosing the footpath

Across the difficult terrain of our existence we have attempted to build a highway and in so doing have lost our footpath. God lead us to our footpath:

Lead us there where in simplicity we may move at the speed of natural creatures and feel the earth's love beneath our feet.

Lead us there where step-by-step we may feel the movement of creation in our heart

And lead us there where side-by-side we may feel the embrace of the common soul. Nothing can be loved at speed.

God lead us to the slow path; to the joyous insights of the pilgrim; another way of knowing: another way of being. Amen.

Day 4 By the seashore

Lord, you have come to the seashore,

neither searching for the rich nor the wise,

desiring only that I should follow.

O, Lord, with your eyes set upon me,

gently smiling, you have spoken my name;

all I longed for I have found by the water,

at your side, I will seek other shores

Lord, see my goods, my possessions;

in my boat you find no power, no wealth.

Will you accept, then, my nets and labour?

O, Lord, with your eyes set upon me,

gently smiling, you have spoken my name;

all I longed for I have found by the water,

at your side, I will seek other shores.

Lord, take my hands and direct them.

Help me spend myself in seeking the lost,

returning love for the love you gave me.

O, Lord, with your eyes set upon me,

gently smiling, you have spoken my name;

all I longed for I have found by the water,

at your side, I will seek other shores.

Lord, as I drift on the waters,

be the resting placof my restless heart,

my life’s companion, my friend and refuge.

O, Lord, with your eyes set upon me,

gently smiling, you have spoken my name;

all I longed for I have

found by the water,

at your side, I will seek other shores.

Day 3 Hills and Valleys

Hills and Valleys

 Tauren Wells

On the mountains, I will bow my life

To the one who set me there

In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the one who sees me there

When I'm standing on the mountain aft, didn't get there on my own

When I'm walking through the valley end, no I am not alone!

You're God of the hills and valleys!

Hills and Valleys!

God of the hills and valleys

And I am not alone!

I've watched my dreams get broken

In you I hope again!

No matter what I know

Know…

Day 2 Being a pilgrim

FOR THE TRAVELLER

(John O Donoghue)

Every time you leave home,

Another road takes you

Into a world you were never in

When you travel, you find yourself

Alone in a different way,

More attentive now

To the self you bring along

Your more subtle eye watching

You abroad; and how what meets you

Touches that part of the heart

That lies low at home:

When you travel,

A new silence

Day 1 A Blessing awaits you

What I know is that this blessing

will begin

as soon as you set out.

That this blessing will meet you in every step.

That it is gladly bound to you

and cannot do without you.

That you are

part of the path

this blessing makes:

that it creates a way

not only for you

but through you,

that it finds its road as you find

yours.

On the road again.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”  (Marcel Proust)
And so we are setting out on our journey to the  Camino again. (This is the fourth time for our parish) The Camino is a wonderful canvas for discovery..., a path worn through the ages... but we will walk it with fresh steps and new eyes.

But even the most reflective journey must begin with the mundane the everyday.

Journeys End

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul.

Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.

Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will. George Bernard Shaw

The single biggest problem in communication iis the illusion that it has taken place.  George Bernard Shaw

Pilgrims of Paris
We heard a call and turned our hearts toward home.
We were pulled by Spirit
Each one a thread of different color and texture.
We gathered in circle, entering the mystery from different points.
We moved, slowly, cautiously, with open hearts.
We walked along the path, sometimes alone, often with others.
We brushed shoulders, we followed, at times we moved aside,
To stand still in our own silence.
We shared stories, laughter, prayer, good wine.
We always were moving to the center of the labyrinth,
Mine, yours, ours.
And now,
We the Pilgrims
Leave our circle.
Like Ariadne, we carry our thread along as we leave,
to begin a new journey,
To a new center.
Amen                                           ( John Callahan)
